GATE 2027 registration dates

Registration runs on GOAPS, the GATE Online Application Processing System. The dates that matter for the form:

GATE 2027 application fee

Three things to read from this table:

1. The late fee is a flat ₹500. Every row goes up by exactly ₹500 in the extended window, whether you take one paper or two.
2. The concession covers four groups only. The fee table has two rows. Female, SC, ST and PwD candidates pay the lower fee. Everyone else pays the higher fee, so there is no separate OBC or EWS row in the fee table.
3. A second paper costs as much again at the regular rate. Adding a paper adds ₹1,000 for the first group and ₹2,000 for everyone else.

Eligibility for GATE 2027

The official criteria are short. You can apply if any one of these is true:

• You are currently in the 3rd or higher year of any undergraduate degree.
• You have completed any government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities.
• You are in the 1st or higher year of a master's programme such as M.Sc., M.A. or MCA.

Choosing your papers: CS alone or with a second paper

GATE 2027 has 30 test papers, and Robotics and Automation (RA) is new this year. A CS candidate may add one second paper from this list: DA, EC, GE, MA, ME, PH, RA or ST.

A second paper is a real decision, not a free extra. It costs more, and every week spent on its syllabus is a week taken from CS. It makes sense if you already study that subject for another reason, or if the second score serves a specific admission or career goal you have checked. DigiLocker and documents

GATE 2027 ties the application closely to DigiLocker, so get your documents in order before you open the form.

• DigiLocker registration is mandatory for Indian nationals. Your personal details are fetched from DigiLocker, so check that they are correct before you open the form.
• A live photo is captured during registration. Use a device with a working camera and good light.
• Category certificates go into DigiLocker with fixed names. SC and ST certificates go in the DigiLocker folder named GATE2027, saved as CATEGORY.pdf.
• PwD certificates have their own file names. Use UDID_CERT.pdf or PWD_CERT.pdf.
• Your ID must match on exam day. The same ID verified through DigiLocker must be produced at the exam centre.

From 27 September 2026 to the first exam day on 6 February 2027 there are 132 days, about 19 weeks. That is enough time for a full cycle of subject study, mock tests and revision, if you start the week you submit the form.
